Making A Plan

Organize-2014

We are in the second week of January 2014! How did we get here so fast??? I swear time is speeding up!  This year is already shaping up to be a year of projects, trips and all-around-busy-ness. I have already had a few moments of inner terror thinking about all the things I need to accomplish! BUT, I refuse to let those moments overtake me! I have asked God to do some BIG things in our family and ministry this year (not to mention my own personal life). I am ready to WOMAN UP and do everything I can to keep my mind focused on Him and the goals I believe He has given me.

The questions I asked myself at the end of 2013 was this…. “How am I going to keep track of what I need to do? What can I do to be more organized and more efficient?”

I have a plan. A plan that I am excited about! A plan that will only work if I stick to it! I am sure that there will be adjustments along the way. More of this… Less of that.. But it is a guideline that will help me keep on track. I am a visual person and I also am a PAPER person. I am obsessed with writing lists and ideas and basically everything. I know that There Is An App for That! but I still want a piece of paper and a pen with thick ink to work out what is in my head. It helps me.

I found a few free printable calendars and customized them to my needs. Printed them out and took them down to Staples and had them spiral bound for under $5.

Here are the links to the print outs I used. Free CalendarsMenu Planning Tools, and Chore Charts. The Ultimate Mom Calendar is the big one that helps with staying on top of the house cleaning and personal maintenance. I really like how it gives detailed suggestions or you can customize it to whatever you need. Organize-1 Organize-2

I also am going to attempt a chore chart for my boys. Hopefully that will help them (and me) be motivated to help mommy out around the house and feel good about being rewarded!

What have you done to set yourself up for a Fabulous Year?

HAPPY PLANNING!!

We’re Going on A ROADTRIP! (AAAHHHHH!!!!)

What seemed like a fantastic idea a few weeks ago is quickly becoming intimidating and honestly slightly overwhelming when I think about it!

Our family is no stranger to Road Trips. We made two round trips from Detroit to Florida in the last year. We even did two trips to Atlanta the year before that. Yes. We have been there, done that. Survived. Got the T-shirt….

So, why is driving from Detroit to Minnesota making me feel so woozy? Well, it’s because, Jon is staying home! It’s just going to be the kids, my sister and I on this trip. My husband is a machine and can drive and drive and drive. We are good team. He drives. I sit in the back and keep the kids entertained. We had a system.

(One of the best parts of a road trip is CHICK-FIL-A!!! We LOVE it!)

(Jordan is my carseat hater! He is doing better… but he has a limit…)

This time I can’t sit in the back. We are driving my sisters car. And the three boys will be nicely stacked together in the backseat. And I am questioning… what order do I seat them? Who is the least likely to pick on who. Which do I need the easiest access to from the front passenger seat?

I no longer have the advantage of the extra room in our Mountaineer for lots of toys. Now I need to be very selective and plan out very wisely my choices of items brought on this 11+ hour each way trip!

Don’t get me wrong! I am excited! I can’t wait to see all my extended family at the family reunion! (Some of them I haven’t seen since I was 10!) I think I will be more confident with some research and advice.

This was my best idea of the last trip! Let them put stickers all over themselves! STICKER-POX!

I have been perusing Pinterest in search of Tip & Tricks from other mommies who have survived road trips. But I need your advice! HELP! I don’t have long before this adventure and need to get serious planning going!!! So, PLEASE, share your wisdom and experience!

Yours Desperately,
