There are moments in our lives when God takes his very powerful Scriptures and reveals his amazing truth to us. These moments are etched into our hearts forever and make a wonderful difference in our lives.
During my Sophomore year at college, I was really struggling with my health and it left me wondering why God would allow me to have difficulty when I was trying to serve him and felt frustrated by my trials? (have you ever been there?) I could have picked a million other situations that I thought would be great and God didn’t pick them, or change my situation (no matter how much I prayed!). And so, I wrestled every day for months with accepting that God knew what he was doing.
One morning, God in his amazing way, led me to Psalm 84:11.
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
And there it was! The little phrase; “No good thing will he withhold…” God never holds back good things from his children who are walking with him! And I was walking with him as best as I could. So, this meant, that my health problems…were (gulp) a GOOD THING?!? Yep! It sure was! And all the things that I thought would be good for me that God wasn’t giving me…Were NOT good things!
Wow! What an epiphany! What a change in my attitude. It has been forever etched in my heart, that EVERYTHING, no matter if I think it is a good thing or not…IS a Good Thing! And I can have confidence that God will never hold back any good thing from my life, as long as I am walking with him!
So, that my friends, is what this blog is going to be about. Good Things. (Even when, well, I at first they don’t seem like good things.) I pray that God will use Psalm 84:11 in your life to remind you of the Good Things he hasn’t withheld from you! And I hope you will enjoy hearing about all the Good Things in my life!
