Happy Day After Valentine’s Day Everyone!
I hope you felt the love from those you love!
I was so blessed to have a most fabulous date with my Very Hot Man Wednesday night.
(THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! to Liz for watching the boys last night!!!!)
We had a sweet evening of just being together and talking of special moments we have enjoyed together, while making another one.
(And we enjoyed an AMAZING meal! YUM!)
Here’s the thing…
Valentine’s Day is a commercialized day, where we kinda are guilted into giving and expecting something extra from our special people in our lives.
Don’t get me wrong anytime one can have an excuse to get a little extra dark chocolate one should be thankful!
But although it’s a commercialized, “forced” holiday, it is also a reminder and opportunity to specifically express to those we love that we care about them and they are important to us.
The people we usually take for granted the most are those we love the most!
Our spouse, our children, our family and friends….
This shouldn’t be! This has got to change!
Ok. So, does this mean we need to give flowers, heart shaped boxes of chocolates
and cutesie little pre-done love notes to the special people in our lives every day?
Ummm…. No….Not necessarily
(although, more love notes could really spice up a few marriages!)
We didn’t have a huge budget for Valentine’s gifts.
And since I am without a car the majority of the time, I didn’t really have a chance to go out and specifically find a “Valentine’s Gift” for Jon, my boys, or anyone else for that matter.
What I did have was a little time. And it was time I could spend thinking of special ways to express to those I love just how much I love them.
But I don’t want to express it just today.
I want today to mark the beginning of a better and more consistent expressing my love and thankfulness for my loved ones.
Getting down on the floor and playing with my children. Laughing at their silly antics and taking extra time to hug and tickle.
Noticing the little things my husband does everyday and the big part he is in my life and then expressing to him how much he means to me more often.
I want to put a little love in their hearts every single day by expressing my love!
Showing them everyday that they are special. They are important.
And I know when I do that…
I feel the love in return!
Enjoy your chocolate!
Keiki
