Ugggghhhh….
There are some things in life that I know I need to do. But I DO NOT want to do them!
Like working out. Exercising. Getting fit. Staying healthy.
I don’t Want to “Want To!”
Here are a few of my Excuses…
Because I have children it can be hard to find to time to exercise.
Eating healthy can be challenging.
There are so many other things I could be getting done and I feel guilty not doing them. (like laundry… I always seem to need to do laundry….)
I need sleep! (Momma is much happier with more sleep!)
There is so many excuses I can give! (And I have used every single one of them!)
My excuses have been winning for a while! So, I have had to make up my mind that I Wanted To work out!
I wanted to get fit and I wanted to be healthy and I wanted to feel good about myself! And that I Wanted To more then I didn’t want to. (Did that make sense?)
I wanted to get fit and I wanted to be healthy and I wanted to feel good about myself! And that I Wanted To more then I didn’t want to. (Did that make sense?)
It’s hard to put action to my “Want Tos” because I have to get up early to get it done.
5:30 AM. (Really %:#!AM comes WAAAAAYYYY to early!)
I have to set my alarm for that early because my children are early-risers. (Like some days 6 am risers!) Trying to get a workout in during naptime just doesn’t happen when I need to get dinner together, fold a some laundry, work on the computer in the short moments when the house is quiet. And I for sure am not motivated by the end of the day, when I am running around putting toddlers back into bed for the third (sometimes fifth) time, picking up toys, and clearing laundry off my bed! So, 5:30 AM it is. And I hate it! And I love it. But I mostly hate it!
The first week…I got up Four out of FIVE days! (Yay, me!!)
Now don’t get me wrong… I dragged myself out of bed, walked to the bathroom half awake and the whole time repeating in my head…
“I don’t want to do this. I want to do this! I don’t want to do this. I want to do this!”
When I stop and think of the benefits… They far outweigh the inconvenience of missing an hour of sleep!
My hubby is a huge inspiration to me! In 2011 he got serious about getting fit. His commitment to make good habits in his life has paid off. He feels so much better, healthier, and has more energy! Jon has always been a strong man, but now… Well, let’s just say I like muscles… A LOT! (Wink. Wink!)
Today is Monday. A new week. I will admit, my alarm went off at 5:30 AM and I turned it off. I did get up at 6:00 AM! I still made my minimum goal of 30 minutes of exercise. (I am no longer allowing myself to include going up & down stairs to do laundry or running after toddlers as exercise… Bummer…)

My mornings. Excuse the dirty shoes! |
What is something that you struggle with? I know some people LOVE to workout! (I do not understand this, but that’s ok…HAHA!) What keeps you motivated? What do you do when you DON’T WANT TO “WANT TO”?
Comment below if you want to join me in adding some exercise to our lives. I always feel encouraged when I can share my successes, whine about getting up early, and confess when I miss a day or sleep in too late. (You know you like to whine too! hehehe!)
Happy “Want To’s”!
Keikilani
I struggle just to get the energy to exercise!..lol..it is among the things I hate the most…and believe me Keikilani…It’s a short list! perhaps one day I will be force to take action…that day is not today though! Hang in there…I’m sure the end result would be all you were expecting and more! I came over to visit you from the Love Bakes Good Cakes party!
Have a great week and You Can Do It…even if you don’t feel like it, lol…Think Bob the Builder!!!!

I used to be the same way about exercise, but have gotten so used to it being a regular part of my life. For the most part, I like working out but there are days I feel lazy. But when I miss it for a few days or week, I actually want to exercise. You will get there too if you stick to it, reminding yourself of all the benefits.
My biggest challenge is eating well. Which I probably don’t do as well because I work out like I do.
Good luck!
