How many of you are like me and are searching for balance in your life? Kids, husband, work, cooking, cleaning, errands, checking Facebook, friends, soccer practice, school, church, time with God, me time, and the list goes on and on…
We are pulled in so many directions and often end up feeling guilty because in reality, it is almost impossible to keep a reasonable balance in all these areas. If I am balanced with time with my children, my housework is piling up. If I am keeping stable at work, my husband is in need of some attention. (It’s like this big game of tipping back and forth!) Quite frankly, I am exhausted! And you are probably too.
So, what’s the answer? What is the secret? Will I ever find that perfect balance in life? Is it even attainable?
We could spend hours pouring over advice and “10 steps” and inspiring stories of those who found balance… but what is that to me? I’m sure you’ve heard most of it too. But it still seems that there is always something out of balance in my life.
What’s a girl to do? Is there hope of finding a way to navigate this crazy life?
Of course! (you didn’t think I would leave you hanging now, did ya?)
Really the simplest and most overlooked principle comes right from the Bible.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Here it is. Plain. Simple. Put God first every time, in every thing, in every way. Then everything else will fall into place the way He wants it. (Not necessarily the way I want it)
Too often, God is last. We squeeze him in when we have time or where there isn’t something already planned. Or when we are about to throw in the towel…. THEN we desperately cry to ask for help! All along, he has given us the secret to a full life, a life full of peace and balance in Him.
So, what I am really saying is to be balanced you have to be UN-balanced! Tip the scales to Jesus! Until you are 100% Jesus, it just won’t work.
