Today I would like to recognize a GOLD MEDAL MAMMA!
**A Gold Medal Mamma is a mom who is amazing, not because she is perfect, but because she makes sacrifices for her children and works to make the best out of every situation she finds herself in.
I am blessed to be able to call this incredible woman my friend and even my (adopted) sister! Emer Hults, You are a Gold Medal Mamma!
Let me tell you why I think Emer is a Gold Medal Mamma.
I was so blessed to grow up in a home where my parents opened their hearts and home to people that God brought into their lives. Because of this, I shared my room several times with hurting souls and felt blessed to be a part of their lives.
I don’t remember when I met Emer or how old I was. But I remember the vibrant woman, spunky personality, and beautiful face that shined when she smiled. While the details and circumstances leading up to this story are not mine to share in detail, I will say, that no one had more reason to be full of bitterness and depression than an eight month pregnant woman left alone by a no good man.
As a 15 year old girl, I sat beside the hospital bed with a woman about to give birth that should have been devastated, hopeless, and depressed. Maybe she was a little, but she also was fighting. Fighting for her life and the life of her little unborn baby girl. Fighting not to be a statistic, determined not to give into the fear that she had of the future.
Emer gave birth to a beautiful, baby girl. And at that moment she became A Gold Medal Mamma! This new mom was not afraid to ask for help, to work as hard as humanly possible, be creative and take risks to make the best life for her little girl. Emer made a hard decision to move out of her comfort zone and move to another state where there would be more opportunities for her and her daughter. She had huge faith that God would sustain her and make a way.
It is obvious that God has blessed the faith of this once single mom fighting her way through the good, the bad, and the ugly. Emer is now married to Scott, a very good man, who is very much in love with her, and God blessed her with two more children, John & Sophia! Her first born, Nica is now 15 and training for the National Gymnastics team. Emer still continues to this day to work hard to make the best life for her family. Making sure her children laugh and enjoy life, while working hard at training to be Olympians and building strong character.
I sit back and am blown away by you, Emer! There is much I can learn from you. You inspire me. I admire you. I love you. And I think the whole world should know! You are A GOLD MEDAL MAMMA!
