I raise my hand and shamelessly admit that I am addicted to cookies!!! And not just cookies, but cookie dough! (I know, you aren’t supposed to eat raw eggs…Don’t need the lecture…Cause I am going to keep doing it anyways…) We are especially addicted to any kind of Chocolate Chip cookie in our house. And of course, they need to be soft and chewy.
This particular recipe is a combo of a cookie and muffin texture. My boys have dubbed them “Mookies.” They are lower in fat content because of the applesauce and banana. These babies pretty much are devoured in about 2 1/2 days! I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
- 2 very ripe, large Bananas
- 3/4 C. Shortening
- 2/3 C. Applesauce
- 1 C. Brown Sugar
- 1 C. Sugar
- 1 1/2 Tsp Vanilla
- 3 Eggs
- 2 1/2 C. Oats
- 3 C. Flour
- 1 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Ground Cinnamon
- 2 C. Chocolate Chips
- Pre-heat oven to 350˚
- In a stand mixer mix bananas & shortening together until well combined. Add applesauce and combine. Mix in sugar & brown sugar until well combined. Add vanilla & eggs. Add oats, flour, baking soda, salt, & cinnamon. Turn mixer on low and mix until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
- Spray cookie sheets with non-stick cooking spray. Use a large cookie scoop to scoop dough into balls onto cookie sheet.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes
Happy Baking!

Sounds good. I don’t really like banana by itself but I do like banana bread, so I bet I would like these.

I was just looking for a way to use my over ripe bananas. Thank you for the recipe! BTW: I like the dough better than the cookies!
