Valentine’s Day is almost here and you may find yourself frustrated by your sweetheart who just feels that Valentine’s Day is kinda…well, stupid. There are some men out that who just really don’t care for this holiday. Let’s face it. It really is a woman’s holiday. Many feel that this holiday is heavily commercialized. And while you can still enjoy it and embrace Valentine’s Day for the opportunity it brings to show the one you love just how much they mean to you. You can also get creative with gifts for the ones who just think Valentine’s Day is silly.
My sister’s fiancĂ© is one of “those” guys who just can’t stand Valentine’s Day and doesn’t like to be given gifts. He tries very hard to like Valentine’s Day for her sake. And goes above and beyond to shower her with love. (He is such a great guy! I’m so glad she found him!) She creatively came up with this awesome list of ways to celebrate and things to give to a guy who thinks Valentine’s Day is stupid, as well as those guys who just don’t like gifts.
A handmade card
Time to be crafty! Create a handmade card to let him know that even though it’s Valentine’s Day you still love him. Be funny, be cute, put in references to his fandoms, make it sexy, and maybe slip in one sweet note too!
Learn how to play his favorite video game or current game his into
Unless you are already totally cool and completely rock by playing video games with him already… this is for those of us who didn’t figure out video games earlier in life or get past Mario Kart! If your guy is really into playing video games, figure out how to play with him. Practice secretly and surprise him with your skills! If he isn’t into video games, spend some time learning about his hobbies and what interests him. Being interested in his hobbies shows him how much you are interested in him. Who knows, you could even enjoy it!
Celebrate President’s Day instead
If he isn’t into celebrating a day all about love, celebrate the leaders of the United States! You most likely have President’s Day off, why not take the whole day to celebrate living in a free country together and some pretty amazing presidents to boot. He probably can’t argue about that! HA!
Ask him questions about his fandom or favorite sports team and listen!
It may seem as if men don’t like to communicate, but I have found quite often that if you get them on a subject that they are passionate about, they will rattle on for hours! Make a point to listen to him. Ask him questions about his favorite sports, his favorite hobby, his favorite movie, his favorite music… You get the point. Find out why he loves those things. Maybe you’ll discover a secret desire to go to a concert and you can give him the surprise of his life with tickets to see his favorite band!
Let him hate Valentine’s Day
Whatever his reason to dislike this holiday so intensely…allow him to hate it. Don’t make him fake it. Instead pick any other random “Wednesday” to show each other your love! Make up your own holiday that is just for the two of you! Special traditions just between the two of you are totally romanic and a lot more fun.
Ps. If you do decide to celebrate on a later date… Don’t forget to raid the day after Valentine’s Day candy sale! SCORE!!!!
Happy Anti-Valentine,

I love these ideas. I find this a rather expensive holiday…when really doing stuff together is awesome. We are making dinner together at home.

I don’t mind Valentines… neither does my hubby. We don’t go all out but that’s ok. We do go all out for our Anniversary though 🙂

This is a great post!!! Luckily, my hubby likes to celebrate Valentine’s Day. However, he hates to celebrate Sweetest Day and he refuses to celebrate. LOL

I think it’s cheesy, so it really doesn’t matter what he thinks. lol I love the crafts and decorations, but the romance of it? Nah, I’m not into that.
