Motherhood is a 24 hour job! There is no time off. No break. No overtime. Just Mom-all-the-time. I don’t have to remind you just how many hats we moms wear in a week…Chef, Maid, Chauffeur, Cheerleader, Nurse… and so on and so forth… It’s a lot, but we love it!
However… Mom’s need to take a WEEKEND off!!!
Pretty much any reason for the weekend off will be suitable.
(Except a hospital stay. That does NOT count as a weekend off!)
Here are some quick ideas for a Mom weekend:
- Girl’s weekend – Bachelorette party, wine tour, shopping trip
- Spa weekend
- Educational Conference – an informational packed weekend in a niche you love
- Inspirational Weekend Conference – religious or self-help women’s conferences that are uplifting and encouraging
- Quite weekend – book a hotel and sit by the pool or beach for most of the day with a book, order room service and relax.
Okay. I know, you are going to say exactly what I said when the opportunity for a weekend by myself came.
It’s too busy around here. The kids need me.
It wouldn’t be fair to leave the husband at home with the kids for a whole weekend.
Catching up after a weekend away will actually put me MORE behind.
After much talking to myself and my husband, I decided to take the get over my MOM GUILT and go!
I have been blogging for several years now. It started out as a random outlet for recipes and musings, but the last year I have been more serious in posting and sharing and I have discovered a beautiful community of other women who feel a LOT like me when it comes to the Survival of Motherhood and finding the Good in the every day life! I am excited to keep following my dreams and want to learn as much as possible about this influencer industry.
The Blog Elevated Conference is held in Texas every year and when I realized that I could go, I knew that it would be the perfect opportunity to learn, be challenged and make new friends! And it was held this year at the South Shore Harbor Resort.
There was no question that this was the PERFECT Mom Weekend for me! Learning more about something I love and getting to be close to the water…. THE Best combination.
I was able to take the 2016 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring on my mom’s weekend!
It was exciting to be able to test drive the gorgeous 2016 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring and take this beautiful red baby out on the open road just by myself!
I have never driven a Mazda CX-9. I will admit that I quickly became extremely comfortable and relaxed in this vehicle. I can totally see myself driving this SUV around town with the kids and to work every day.
Let’s talk about the mileage right off the bat: 21 MPG city driving and 27 MPG highway!
Um… That is AWESOME! I love that Mazda is fuel conscious even with their SUVs. When you are a large family driving with a SUV you know that the cost of fuel can hit your budget. But not with the MAZDA CX-9.
Here is a run down of some of the features I loved:
- 7 passenger seating (the seats fold down easily too)
- 2nd row window sunshades
- Comfortable Leather seats
- Multi-function Commener Control (the middle console was easy to use and set up)
- Mazda Navigation System
- Bluetooth/AUX Jack/USB inputs – 4 (There were FOUR spots to plug in chargers!!! I need this in my life!)
- Safety and Security Features
- Latch Child Safety Seat Anchors
- Lane Departure Warning
- Lane Keep Assist
- Smart Brake support
- Front side – impact air bags
- Blind Spot Monitoring (this feature is a MUST)
- Advanced dual front airbags
- Heated power mirrors with turn lamps
- Power open/close Rear Lift Gate
- MSRP starting at $40,170
I enjoyed every moment in the MAZDA CX-9. It really is a great option for families who have multiple children and want to save gas and be comfortable.
After my mom weekend, there was a NEED to stop at the grocery store to stock up on the essentials. The kids begged to ride in the CX-9! We loaded up on groceries and I was pleasantly surprised with just how much I could pack into the trunk even with the third row of seats up!
I so very much enjoyed my Mom Weekend! You NEED to plan yours soon!
(or if you are a husband reading this… Plan one for your wife!) It was just the boost I needed.
Pretty sure I enjoyed my time in the MAZDA CX-9 alone as much as I did the rest of the weekend!
Happy Mom Weekend!

TELL ME: What would you love to do for a Mom’s Weekend?
*Disclosure: I was given a vehicle to drive for a week in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.
Honestly, I think the best weekends are the ones when we all get away.
I would love it if the hubby and I went back to New York City for another Broadway show or if we took the kids to Disneyland again. Now that would be fun!!
I love that Mazda – I’ll have to check into for my next car – and love your quick ideas for a Mom’s weekend – I would do each one!
What a nice looking ride! I need a weekend off just like it sounds perfect!
I saw one of these on the road the other day and hurt my neck turning to look at it. Never thought I’d want a Mazda….but I do now!
That Mazda looks sweet! Good for you for taking some time for yourself. Women need to remember to step away from roles (wife, mom, etc.,) for awhile and just have fun!
What a fabulous car! We will be trading in our van for a car soon now that the kids have all flown the coup. This one looks great. I’m not sure I would enjoy getting away by myself like that, though. I’ve done it. It’s not so much the guilt (I believe all parents need a break from kids and vice versa), as it was I really missed my husband. He’s my best friend and I’d rather go someplace we could both get a well-earned break.
I totally understand Alicia! My husband is my best friend too. I do love traveling with him.
