I have been putting off writing this post. I need to tell you why.
It’s a very exciting and wonderful post! I am thrilled to be able to share this opportunity with you! I cannot tell you how much I hope that this post will touch your heart and encourage you to give and pay it forward…
But it’s a hard post to write because it stirs up a LOT of emotions. I feel “all the feels” when I sit down to write about our adoption journey. I find myself still a puddle of tears every time I think about our adoption being final. Those who have adopted before me, know that nothing is final until it is FINAL. It is such a HUGE weight off of me to know these babies are mine forever.
While we were in the months of foster care and waiting to adopt, I had some huge blessings… Strangers blessed me. They gave love to my babies. They poured out, sacrificed and gave hope when they didn’t have to. That can never be repaid. “Thank you” is not enough.
But I can Pay It Forward! And you can bless someone too!
So, here it goes…
Three Christmas’ ago I sat next to a mom at gym class while watching my three boys tumble and do flips. We had a conversation that would change my whole life. She told me about her adoption journey. She shared with me how desperate the need was for families to open their homes. She gave me a personal account of her struggles, fears and joys in her very personal story of foster care and adoption.
It touched me deeply. Very. Very deeply.
I cried….And I am crying right now thinking about it.
It took one conversation with Jon to decide that we finally ready to start the adoption process. I made a phone call and signed up for an orientation class in January.
Within less than six months of our decision, we drove the NICU a few miles from our home and visited two tiny princesses. They were the most precious and beautiful little girls. My heart swelled with love and Jon literally melted.
It was hard to instantly have two babies in our house. We had literally 24 hours to gather everything we would need to take care of them. Money was tight. But it was worth it!
Our first Christmas with the girls we were so surprised and BLESSED by the generosity of others. Two different organizations provided Christmas gifts for our girls. (One even blessed my boys with gifts too!) We were so touched by the generosity of strangers.
The next summer, Justin moved into our home. He was the best addition to our family and we knew that our family was complete.
When Christmas came around again, we were once again blessed with the love and generosity of others.
I cannot describe to you the rawness I feel when looking back on those months. Although I have written several posts about Foster Care and Adoption, I haven’t been ready to share the emotional rollercoaster that we went through during our time fostering and the adoption process. I can tell you that there has never been anything more painful and more beautiful that I have experienced in my life!
Many days as a Foster Parent are very hard. Your support, love, and kindness goes so far for both the foster parents and the foster children!
This year I a want to pay it forward! I want to give back.
I want to inspire and challenge you to see the children in your neighborhood who are hurting. Love on the families who are sacrificing and opening their hearts and homes to these little souls who need so much cherishing.
We recently opened our boutique. Jade & Jazz Boutique is named after our twin girls. This year we have a special shirt for the holiday season and for every shirt we sell, we will donate a toy to the same Foster Closet that blessed us not only with presents for Christmas at the holidays, but clothing, shoes, and carseats!
I would invite you to join me in sending love to these children and their families!
To purchase one of these shirts, join Jade & Jazz Boutique EXCLUSIVE DEALS group on Facebook. CLICK HERE to be taken directly to the post. If you are unable to use Paypal, please comment and I will contact you to arrange another form of payment.
Today is World Adoption Day… I can’t think of a better day to start this campaign! Let’s bless those that need love this holiday season!
Happy to Give Back,
