When you are a mom you can’t afford to hit that afternoon slump!! Whether you are working mom or stay at home mom, try these 5 tricks to beat the afternoon slump!
The afternoon slump is a real thing for the Mom Life. I have experienced it both as a working mom and as a stay at home mom.
You are up at the crack of dawn and your brain has a million tabs open for every member in your family, and it seems like the afternoon is always the time when your energy and ability to function just runs dry.
For me the afternoon is crucial for checking off the majority of my To-Do list. I can’t afford to hit that afternoon slump. So, I have found a few tricks that will help me power through and make it to bed time!
Listen to Music
Music is a very powerful mood changer. Think about why we love our workout playlist so much! Blast some tunes in the house or put on some headphones at work and give yourself a musical pep talk with a beat.
Have some Protein
When you are feeling sluggish reach for protein! I love stocking up on Dannon® Light & Fit® Nonfat Yogurt Drinks and Dannon® Oikos® Nonfat Yogurt Drinks from Walmart. Both drinks are low fat, high in protein and delicious.
Quick and on the go is necessary for my life right now. Dannon® got it right with these easy to grab drinks that are truly perfect for the mom who is always on the go.
Yoga & Stretching
When you feel that afternoon slump hitting you, stand up and stretch. You can find quite a few easy desk yoga routines that will help work out the stiff necks and get your blood moving again. Yoga also focuses on deep breathing which can help clear your mind of the “fog” and help you get focused again.
Step outside for some fresh air
Never underestimate the power of the sunshine and fresh air! Even when I was a stay at home mom, stepping outside of the house did wonders for my health and energy levels.
I preach quite passionately that children need to be outside as much as possible! I am a true believe that the sunshine and grass beneath little feet is essential for a full life. But it also applies to us as moms! We need that authentic vitamin D too.
Diffuse Essential Oils or burn a Candle
Smells can really trigger our brains. My favorite invigorating essential oil is Wild Orange. It not only makes the room you are in smell amazing, but it also has a powerful effect on putting energy into the air.
Your favorite candle or essential oil can really help you clear your head and power through the afternoon slump.
These are my essential tricks for making the most out of my day and not succumbing to the afternoon doldrums. I keep a little reminder in my notebook to try these tricks to help me power through my day and be a Rock Star Momma!
Happy Day!
