I love involving the kids in decorating our home at Christmas! While having them help me do all the decorations stresses me out a bit, I find making special projects just for them is a great way to let them join in the process of making our home festive for the holidays!
Simple is my favorite word when it comes to doing anything with young kids. (Not to mention six kids!)
I planned a fun night of making paper chains, cutting out paper ornaments that spell Merry Christmas and our favorite snack of Goldfish Cheddar Colors crackers.
Goldfish crackers are a “Must Always Have” in our house! They are always baked with real cheese, no preservatives, and the colors are sourced from plants. It’s a snack I always feel good about serving to my kids. (And I like them too!)
The oldest boys really got into making the paper chain. It’s such a simple, old-school decoration, but it has a charm that reminds me that Christmas is all about the simple things.
Construction paper, scissors and tape is all you need to make your paper chain. You can use just traditional red and green holiday colors or do the whole rainbow!
The Merry Christmas Ornament letters were easy for the boys to cut out. We used tape to secure them to the wall.
You can print your own Merry Christmas Ornament letters for your home by clicking these numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
We decided that the breakfast nook was the best place to decorate with our Christmas decoration creations.
I love making memories with the kids. It’s something special when you sit down with your kids, make crafts, eat Goldfish crackers, and crack up at their crazy conversations.
All I want for Christmas is a lot more of these crazy kids smiles!
Happy Christmas,
Keikilani
This is such a great idea. I love doing Christmas crafts; they are fun for kids!
Oh, my stars. I haven’t made a paper chain since I was a kid. I remember we use to make these every Christmas. What wonderful memories you brought back to me. Oh and we love Goldfish. Can’t keep them in the house they are gone within minutes of opening a bag.
I was the same way! Paper chains are so much fun! I am glad I can experience it with my kids now.
Such cute and simple ideas. Also, we’re all adults in our house and we still always NEED to have Goldfish crackers on hand at all times. Which reminds me, I think we’re out.
Aww your kids are adorable! I’m in the in between crafting stage at my house. My older ones want nothing to do with them, and my little ones are really young. I can’t wait until I can make these sort of projects with them!
Awww I remember having so much fun making paper chains with my sister as a kiddo. Such good memories!
I love your decorations and the kids seemed to have so much fun putting it all together! Paper chains are so much fun to make. I think I need to make some with my own kiddos! Happy holidays!
Love this super easy and fun craft to help the kids get in the holiday spirit! I forgot how easy this one is and we will have to do it this weekend when we get the tree up!
I love decorating with my little one too. He’s a tiny tot though, so it’s challenging. I look forward to cutting out the printable for him once he masters…scissors. 😉
