‘Tis the season of big games, gatherings, and lots of snacking!!! I love this season of food. I range from complicated to simple in my spread for our family or a whole group of friends.
My go-to is always chicken wings. I know. Classic. Our current family favorite are Frank’s RedHot Wings with Homemade Blue Cheese Dressing.
My boys are really starting to get into the games. And love when they can jump up and cheer with their dad and his friends over an awesome play or touchdown. I am always thoroughly entertained by the mostly friendly bantering and the commercials.
I always have a bottle of Frank’s Red Hot Sauce Original and Frank’s Red Hot Sauce Wings in my fridge, but love the ease of stocking up at Walmart’s freezer section several bags of Frank’s Red Hot Wings. Our favorites are Original Flavor & Buffalo Flavor. (You can also find Kickin’ BBQ Flavor).
It is a rule in our home that you may not eat wings without Blue Cheese Dressing! My husband is obsessed with blue cheese. Blue cheese keeps really well in the freezer. I repackage it into small 1/2 cup sealable containers before freezing.
I love this homemade blue cheese dressing because you can customize it to the thickness you want by adding more or less buttermilk. We like it thick for dipping and a bit thinner when we use it on salads. Either way, it is PERFECT with Frank’s Red Hot!
- 1/2 cup Mayo
- 1/2 cup Sour Cream
- 1/2 cup Blue Cheese Crumbles
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- Pinch of Salt
- 1/4 tsp fresh Ground Pepper
- 1 tbsp - 3 tbsp Buttermilk (add less for thicker dressing)
- Stir all ingredients together in a sealable bowl.
- Refrigerate for at least one hour for flavors to marry.
I usually double this recipe to have a little extra leftover for salads during the week. So, so good!
