Our night was hosted by Marriott. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
My husband and I have hit 2019 hard. Both of us are working a lot of hours, putting a lot of energy into our work and tag-teaming keeping up with our six kids too! We have squeezed in several late night dates at home with movies or take-out, but we really needed a weekend away from the kids, the businesses, and the To-Do list.
I booked the babysitter and we drove 2 miles to the new Houston CityPlace Marriott Springwoods Village.
Since our car ride was so, ahem, short, we had plenty of time to relax and just be together. This hotel has just been built and is gorgeous on the inside and out.
There is plenty of comfortable seating in the spacious lobby. We sat on the couches in front of the huge windows and put our feet up for a bit.
The rooms are modern sleek. Very clean and crisp, but also welcoming and relaxing. I wish I could have all white bedding in my master bedroom. With six kids and three dogs who regularly sneak into our room and on our bed, I am still worried they will never stay white!
The view from the window was beautiful. We had a great view over what will be the center of CityPlace. The green grass and trees made me wish it was just a little bit warmer so we could sit outside and soak in the sun.
My favorite part about staying in a hotel is the bathroom. A bathroom that someone else cleaned, no little boys accidentally pee’d on the floor, and a nice fancy shower head with a rain feature. Sigh… Pure Heaven.
Our visit was personalized with a welcome on the TV screen when we walked in. They spelled my name right too! It’s not always easy to spell Keikilani.
A Keurig coffee maker is in each room and provides a variety of coffee and tea. A cup of fresh coffee in bed is the perfect way to wake up. Not that I don’t love little fists banging on my door…
We made it downstairs in time to enjoy a beautiful spread for breakfast. They had a great variety of fresh and hot food. I couldn’t resist a muffin and fruit. And there was a Starbucks coffee machine which dispensed lattes, cappuccinos and Americanos. It was perfect.
In the morning, we explored the hotel a little more. It has a really beautiful layout that would be perfect for hosting conventions. Lots of space for breakout rooms and meetings.
The hotel also has it’s own restaurant, Switchouse Plates & Pours which has an amazing menu of innovative Tex Mex food and tantalizing drinks. They even have a happy hour, so be sure to take advantage of it when you are there!
The one disappointment I had was that it was too cold to get into their infinity pool. There is nothing I love more than relaxing in the water. The person who designed this infinity pool was brilliant. It looks out over the water reservoir and the beautiful pathways in CityPlace. We already decided we will need to plan another trip when the weather warms up here.
CityPlace is going to be amazing once all the construction is complete. There are going to be some really amazing businesses, restaurants, shops and entertainment just around the corner from us. I know we will be here often. Can’t you just see picnics on the lawn and live concerts in the park???
If you are coming to the north Houston area and need a place to stay or if you live here and want a relaxing weekend getaway, you need to book your room here! I am so glad we had 24 hours to ourselves and recouping a little with some rest and relaxation.
