We are halfway through the summer! I can hardly believe we will be back to school in just a few weeks. On our Bucket List for the summer was a “Park Hop” with the kids.
I had the idea after visiting our first LSI playground last October. The kids were obsessed with the unique features of the park and I loved the inclusive play experiences they had.
We have visited several LSI playgrounds over the past few months, but my idea was to visit several in one day! If you have been following us for any amount of time you know my six children are extremely active. I knew that telling them we were going to have a Park Hop would create a lot of excitement and fun.
Last week we planned our first Park Hop, and now the kids are begging to do it again! And the next visit we have even more fun ideas to implement too!
Here is how to plan an Epic PARK HOP
How to choose your parks
Most likely you will have a lot of park options to choose from for your Park Hop. I highly recommend making this a special day of going to new parks you have never been to before. Landscape Structures makes finding their playgrounds simple and easy with their Find a Playground Feature on playlsi.com.
As a mom, I love their playgrounds because they are not only extremely unique with designs and experiences for the children I have never seen before on a playground, but also inclusive for every child. I love that their parks are easily accessible for children with special needs, yet still fun and challenging for children of all ages.
There is a serious need for parks in our communities that are accessible for all children. Landscape Structures delivers such a beautiful experience for every child with their innovative structures and creative play obstacles.
We visited Linday Lyons Park & Insperity Adaptive Sports Complex for our first Park Hop. They were just minutes away from each other and both were AMAZING!!!
Invite other mom friends
Our next Park Hop will not be alone! We are inviting several of our friends to join us and make the whole experience even more fun! I created some fun invitations the kids can pass out to their friends and I can mail to some of my mom friends I don’t get to see often enough.
Can you imagine the fun for both the kids and the moms during the Park Hop? This is a great way for even us moms to get some friend time in.
You can host your own Park Hop using my invitations for FREE!!! Just enter your email in the box below!
Make it fun
Challenge the kids to do more than just run around. I told my children we were going to “Level Up” our Park Hop with a Challenge. I printed off my Park Hop Challenge sheet which already has a few challenges on it and then let each child think of something fun to add to the challenge list.
Our favorite one was “Do something crazy that everyone will laugh at.”
Repeat your Park Hop every Summer, Fall, Winter, & Spring!
While this post is all about how to plan a summer Park Hop, I am most certainly NOT going to limit my Park Hops to the Summer! I know that a Park Hop will be so much fun on a fall break, during Christmas break, in the spring when we are all dying to get outside and play, and of course, the summer will always be a perfect time for a Park Hop.
We still have a lot of Landscape Structures Parks to explore and the kids and I are making plans for our next Park Hop before school starts! This is absolutely going to become a summer tradition and I am sure a repeated activity throughout the entire year.

I think this is an awesome idea! I’m going to have to research this. May even try to coordinate with a couple of moms to meet up and do this altogether.

I love this way of keeping my kids active and interested. Actually, my hubby started a park hop tradition. But we did not have a printable! Thank you, lovely, for this resource.

I have done this a few times. It has been great with our moms at church. We have really gotten to know each other and made good friend groups.

That is an awesome and fun activity to do with the kids this summer! This just goes to show that you don’t have to burn a hole in your budget to have fun! I will do this too with my grandchildren.
