There are few things more exciting than giving back during the holiday season. There are so many opportunities to share what you have with family, friends, and even strangers.
The holidays really do bring out the best in us.
Macy’s and Savings.com commissioned me to surprise a shopper at Macy’s by paying for their Christmas gifts they were purchasing. I was so excited and nervous to take this campaign!
My heart was beating so fast as I very nonchalantly wandered around Macy’s pretending to look at different items in the store. I really wanted to find a shopper who was buying something for the children on their list. Maybe a mom, or a grandma?
It is not as easy as you would think to inconspicuously stalk shoppers and get in line behind them without raising suspicion of weird behavior. I silently cracked up at myself as I hung out by the register and kept picking up the same pair of boys joggers pretending to be interested.
Actually, looking back at it now. I am pretty sure I am going to order those joggers for all of my boys! Hahahaha! They were so soft and they are obsessed with joggers right now. They even have a matching hoodie!
Back to my mission….
I stepped behind a sweet woman with an armload of Christmas pajamas. I overheard her tell the cashier that she lost her coupon she was going to use, and I knew this would be the perfect person to surprise.
I stepped up and interrupted the cashier as she told her the total.
“Excuse me. I hope you don’t mind an interruption. But I am here on a mission from Macy’s and Savings.com to spread some Christmas cheer and I would love to pay for your purchase today.”
My face was a million shades of red. I know because the room was suddenly WAAAAYYYYY too hot!
Both the cashier and the lady I surprised were in shock.
I said the same thing again and was so happy when she exclaimed that the Christmas pajamas she was buying were for her grandsons and that she has never in her life had anything like this happen to her!
We hugged and she allowed me to take a photo with her.
And then the cashier wanted a photo!
I walked out of Macy’s so thankful to be able to partner with businesses that give back, like Macy’s & Savings.com.
While you may not have someone surprise you at the register to pay for your purchases, Macy’s is having great deals all holiday season for your entire family.
Have you ever had someone surprise you like this? Have you ever gotten to be a secret elf?
I hope you are inspired to give and love even the stranger next you this holiday season and to get all your last minute gifts from Macy’s!
