I have been a mommy for over 8 years now. With 6 kids so close in age, I literally have been carrying around a massive diaper bag for EIGHT years!!! I realized a few weeks ago that I haven’t bought myself a new purse in over 6 years. And the last one I purchased was only used maybe 4 times! (on date nights and such)
Now that the twins are starting to potty train, I have finally given myself permission to let go of the massive diaper bag and begin using a cute purse again! No offense to diaper bags. They are ingenious creations. I have carried half my home around in them for years. Literally… HALF my house! You never know what you may need when you have twin babies! HAHA!!
I set out and found a cute bag on clearance and then wondered what in the world do I put in this thing?!
The girls love my new bag. They call it “Mommy Bag”. And I think that is totally appropriate since there were five essentials that I transferred from diaper bag to mom bag!
The very most important essential is WaterWipes!!! I cannot live without wipes within an arms reach! WaterWipes is a chemical free baby wipe that contains only two ingredients, 99.9% pure Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract. I have used these wipes on my babies since they were teeny-tiny. They are safe, durable, and all natural ingredients.
Obviously, we go through many, many wipes in our home. Just this morning Jazzy decided a chocolate chip cookie would be the best option for breakfast!
She is such a stinker! But she cleaned herself up after she made a mess with all the chocolate with my WaterWipes. I feel safe letting her use them on her own and she feels like such a big girl cleaning herself up. We have come such a long way from the tiny infants I have wiped clean for eight years!
The second item to transfer over from the diaper bag were plastic bags. I fold up a grocery bag or two and stick them in my purse for emergencies. You never know when you will have a soiled outfit or random trash that you need to bag up. Mom’s have to be ready for anything!
When Jayden was a baby I quickly learned it was essential to have small toys and crayons on hand for those moments when there is nothing to do. Waiting at the doctors office, at a restaurant, or when a 20 minute oil change turns into a hour and a half… You know… All those moments when you need to entertain active little people who don’t understand why they can’t run around and climb the walls!!!
My husband recently told me, “When you have six children, there is never a moment when one of them do NOT have an injury!” And while I laughed at his statement, he does have a point. So I transferred over the small bandages to my mom bag for all the little boo-boos.
I am pretty excited to have a purse again! I feel like a woman again!
Pretty sure that when the kids are teenagers I will still be carrying around a package of WaterWipes in my purse. There are some things you can never give up! They will always be an essential.

I never heard of this brand but looks good. I still carry wipes in my purse!
My mother gave me the water wipes to try on my daughter and I love them! I go through so many since my daughter loves to throw food around (ugh!) but these come in handy and I love that they are chemical free.
Ive go them in my bag, and the car and just about anywhere there could possibly be a mess! They really are great and easy on the skin which is exactly what my kids sensitive need.
We love water wipes so much! My daughter has a rash right now and regular wipes sting, but water wipes are gentle on it.
What a cutie! My kids are grown and I still keep wipes in my bag and in my car! This is a great list.
Thanks
I’ve never heard of ‘Water Wipes’ but the product looks soft and amazing. Would keep an eye next time I’m in store.
